Travel season is here, and your clients are preparing for their next adventure. As they finalize their plans, it\u2019s essential to ensure they fully understand how pre-existing medical conditions are handled under the Senior Guard Plan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Pre-existing medical conditions must be stable prior to departure in order to be eligible for coverage.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

<\/h3>\n

What Exactly Does “Stable” Mean?<\/h3>\n

A Medical Condition<\/strong> (other than a Minor Ailment) is considered Stable<\/strong> only if ALL<\/strong> the following statements are true for a specified period:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • \n

    There has not<\/strong> been a new diagnosis, any new Treatment prescribed or recommended, or change(s) to existing Treatment (including a stoppage in Treatment), and<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n

    There has not<\/strong> been any change to any existing prescribed Medication (including an increase, decrease, or stoppage to prescribed dosage), or any recommendation or starting of a new prescription Medication (except for the routine adjustment of Coumadin, Warfarin, or insulin and the change from a brand name Medication to a generic brand Medication of the same dosage); and<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n

    There have not<\/strong> been any new, more frequent, or more severe Symptoms, and<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n

    There has not<\/strong> been any Hospitalization or referral to a specialist, and<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n

    There has not<\/strong> been any medical exam, investigative testing, or test results showing deterioration; and<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n

    There has not<\/strong> been any Treatment recommended, planned, or not yet completed, nor any outstanding test results.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Important Note:<\/h3>\n

    If a client holds an annual Senior Guard plan, stability AND eligibility MUST be met before every departure date<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Keep in mind that this policy includes additional exclusions that may be relevant to your client\u2019s situation. It\u2019s always a good idea to encourage them to review the full policy wording before they travel, so they understand exactly what\u2019s covered and what isn\u2019t<\/p>\n

    Client’s Pre-Travel Checklist<\/h3>\n

    \u2611 Review Policy: <\/strong>Understanding what the policy offers is the best way to travel confidently<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \u2611 Contact Broker:<\/strong> Let your client know that you can be contacted if they have any questions prior to their trip – you are the expert!<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \u2611 Know the Claims Process:<\/strong> Understand what to do if a claim needs to be made<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Senior Guard<\/strong> offers the option to purchase coverage with as little as a 7-day stability period<\/strong>. This means pre-existing medical conditions must remain unchanged for at least seven days<\/strong> before the departure date.<\/p>\n
